Home and Away Stewart family now - losing 'soulmate' at 21, job U-turn and tragic death
Channel 5 show Home and Away's Stewart family are one of the most iconic on the soap, with lovable Alf being one of the most beloved characters in Summer Bay ever.
The legendary Stewart family are the backbone of Home and Away.
According to fan fiction, the Stewarts have resided in Summer Bay since May 1852 when forefather Angus Stewart arrived from Scotland.
Buy the most well-known face of the clan, is, of course, Alf Stewart. Since 1988, the stern but “goon-natured rogue”, who comes across as grumpy but is actually a big softie, has been a mainstay of the hit Aussie soap.
Alf is also known for his great sayings such as: “Stone the flamin’ crows!”, “ya flamin’ mongrel!” and “ya flamin’ galah!”. The word “flamin’” appears in most of them.
Members of the Stewart family have starred in some of the soap’s most dramatic storylines, from returning from the “dead” to cancer.
Many of them have left the soap, including Alf Stewart himself (for a bit). So in light of the current shock kidnapping storyline on Home and Away, we take a look at where they are now.
Judy Nunn - Ailsa Stewart
Judy played Ailsa Stewart, Alf’s wife and mum to Duncan, from 1988 until she was killed off in 2000 in a heart attack storyline.
In real life though, Judy, 77, was said to have left the soap to concentrate on her books – she’s an accomplished author. She has written numerous YA best-sellers as well as scripts for both Neighbours and Possession.
Judy also specialises in Australian period fiction.
Jodi Gordon - Martha McKenzie
As well as her modelling and acting career, Jodi has been in the headlines several times due to her tumultuous personal life.
She was just 21 when her boyfriend at the time Christopher Burkhardt died from a rare and aggressive form of cancer, aged 23.
Jodi was by Christopher's side when he slipped into a coma and was left "shattered" when he died a week later.
Speaking about the tragic loss, Jodi said: "We used to say to each other, "How perfect are our lives?" We both had great jobs and were in a great relationship. It was all peaches and cream," branding Christopher her "beloved soulmate".
A string of failed relationships followed including a short-lived marriage to rugby league player Braith Anasta, who she has an eight-year-old daughter with.
Most recently, Jodi, 37, who also starred in Neighbours, has admitted her battles with alcohol and depression and how she was forced to undergo immersion therapy in rehab.
