Home and Away star Ray Meagher reveals major 2023 teasers

 "We've got the lot."

Home and Away star Ray Meagher has revealed major teasers for some of the soap’s episodes in early 2023.

In an interview with Inside Soap, the actor, who has played Alf Stewart since 1988, discussed the early years of the show whilst also offering a glimpse of what’s to come.

Speaking about the upcoming episodes, Meagher teased: “We did a location shoot in a town called Young, which was exciting - you will have to keep watching as it is coming up soon on UK screens.

“Next year is going to be unmissable; births, deaths, marriages, disasters, drama, we’ve got the lot!” he continued.

With the soap taking a break whilst Channel 5 begin their festive output, the network announced they would be celebrating the 35th anniversary of Home and Away by airing classic episodes for the next six weeks.

Meagher, who has appeared in Summer Bay since the pilot episode, also spoke about the legacy of the soap, and why it has continued to prove so popular.

“A lot of credit has to go to the writers and the location scouts,” he said. “The concept was for a country coastal town, and that was a stroke of genius. When they chose Palm Beach for Summer Bay, you can turn a camera on and point it anywhere and it just looks amazing.”

Earlier this year, the actor discussed his future on the show, hinting that it could be time for Alf to seek pastures new.

“Over 90% of the time, I love it here. And a lot of that is to do with the people,” said Meagher. “The crew are very much a part of that – they're absolutely fantastic. It's like leaving one family and going to another one every day for work. In terms of a straight answer [to leaving] I'll go eventually. But when? Who knows?”

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.
