Home and Away revisits Theo Poulos' past in emotional new scenes

 He opens up to Kirby.

Home and Away spoilers follow from Wednesday's Australian episode (November 23), which some UK viewers may prefer to avoid.

Home and Away has revisited Theo Poulos' emotional backstory in the show's latest Australian episode.

Theo took centre stage in an issue-based story earlier this year when it was revealed that his father Dimitri was violent towards him when he was younger.

Life is happier for Theo now that he's living with his aunt Leah Patterson and dating his Lyrik bandmate Kirby Aramoana. However, he had never confided in Kirby about his traumatic past.

Wednesday's episode on Channel 7 saw this change as Theo questioned the future of his relationship with Kirby..

Theo was concerned after Kirby casually mentioned getting married in the future while helping to celebrate Tane Parata and Felicity Newman's imminent nuptials.

As Theo considered Kirby's remark, he realised that he couldn't see marriage in his own future and his mood towards her abruptly changed.

The show's latest episode saw Theo speak to Leah and Justin Morgan about his new dilemma. The couple questioned whether Theo's reservations about marriage could be influenced by witnessing his parents' problematic relationship when he was growing up.

When Theo realised that it was time to be open with Kirby, she was quick to set the record straight by clarifying that marriage isn't a priority for her in the immediate future.

Kirby said: "We've only been going out for a couple of months. Marriage is the last thing on my mind. One day, but that is so far in the distance that I can't even see it."

When Kirby mentioned that her father wants her to get married one day, it provided an opening for Theo to discuss Dimitri's violence for the first time.

In an emotional scene, Theo opened up about Dimitri lashing out at home and how it affected him. He was relieved when the heart-to-heart ultimately brought him and Kirby closer together.

Dimitri was last seen on the show in April after his abuse of Theo was finally exposed to Leah. He also violently attacked Justin Morgan in some of his final episodes.

In May, it was confirmed that Dimitri had faced court for his violent behaviour. He received a two-year good behaviour bond and was ordered to attend an anger management course.

Home and Away fans in the UK will see the new Theo scenes on Channel 5 in February.
