Hollyoaks airs Walter Deveraux exit scenes
"So many fantastic moments, we really are going to miss you!"
Hollyoaks has aired a surprise exit for Walter Deveraux.
A social media post confirmed the character's departure, with the Hollyoaks team writing: "Wishing all the best to @TAToussaint ❤️ Thank you for bringing us Walter! So many fantastic moments, we really are going to miss you! Love from all of us at team #Hollyoaks!"
The owner of the Price Slice had been weighing up leaving the village to go to Jamaica, but was conflicted because of the problems between Felix and son DeMarcus.
In Tuesday's (November 22) first-look episode, Walter was at first resistant to Pearl's offer to fly him to Jamaica because he felt their family was in "disarray"
Felix had been trying to get to the bottom of why DeMarcus wanted to take antidepressants. He encouraged his son to see a therapist first and they could then decide if the medication was right for his mental health.
"I've been useless when you needed me… From now on, you'll always be able to turn to your old man," Felix insisted.
He promised: "I'll probably get it wrong, in fact, I'll always get it wrong. But I promise to keep trying."
Walter was listening in to the conversation and shared with son-in-law Felix how proud he has become of the man and father Felix is now.
"I would like to say that I always knew you would step up but truth be told, I never believed you would. I was wrong," Walter admitted. "I am very proud of you, son."
With Pearl promising to take care of his family, Walter explained that his decision was made for him — he would be leaving the village to go to Jamaica.
The family shared a big hug, and in a post-credits scene, he was shown handing over the keys to the Price Slice to Pearl.
"The Price Slice is yours. Look after her for me," he said.
Cast member Trevor A. Toussaint has been a mainstay in the soap since 2018 as the deeply-religious shopkeeper Walter. Through that time, viewers have seen Walter grow to become more tolerant of his neighbours ever since his grandson Mitchell came out as gay.
Hollyoaks streams first on All 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4.
