Neighbours star Rebekah Elmaloglou pays sweet tribute to Stefan Dennis after awards win

The star had some lovely words for her on-screen husband.

Neighbours star Rebekah Elmaloglou has paid tribute to Stefan Dennis following his win at the Inside Soap Awards.

Dennis won the prize for Best Daytime Star for his performance as Paul Robinson on the Australian soap, prevailing over co-star Ben Turland, Emily Symons (Home and Away) and Sarah Moyle (Doctors).

Elmaloglou, who played Paul’s on-screen wife Terese, was ecstatic at her co-star’s triumph, lauding the actor in a sweet Instagram post.

“Congratulations to the best onscreen husband ever! Your professionalism, friendship, talent and sheer hard work will always make you the legend that you are,” read the caption.

“I am incredibly lucky and grateful to have worked alongside you for 10 years! We sure kept each other on our toes! Such ease and such a s*** load of fun! I love you Mr Robinson and miss you soo much! @stefandennis7 @neighbours @insidesoapmagazine #insidesoapawards2022 #winner”

When accepting the award, Dennis said: “What an incredible way to end the 37-year life of Paul Robinson. Thank you very, very much everybody who voted for me for this.

“Thank you to all the producers and the wonderful cast and crew that I managed to work intimately with over the last 37-odd years. Without you, Neighbours just would not be, so thank you guys.”

Dennis had two stints on the soap, with the first lasting for eight years following the show’s premiere in 1985. He returned in 2004, staying until the show’s cancellation earlier this year after 37 years on screens.

A campaign to save the series gained over 70,000 signatures following Channel 5’s decision to withdraw funding, but the decision is seemingly set in stone.

Neighbours will no longer air on Channel 5 beyond this summer. It's been a much-loved part of our schedule for more than a decade, and we'd like to thank the cast, Fremantle and all of the production team for their fantastic work on this iconic series,” said the network in an official statement.

Neighbours has now come to an end, but catch-up episodes are available via My 5 (UK) and 10 Play (Australia).
