Hollyoaks star Lily Best reveals future of Lizzie's dark storyline
"I think it's good to show it's okay to have a wobble."
Hollyoaks villain Eric is going to continue to attack the women of the village next week, as his anger and misogyny spiral even further.
After losing his job at the school, Eric gets a job at the Love Boat, and starts spiking drinks, as he did to Maxine this week. This time around, it's Lizzie who ends up as a victim, and actually gets taken to hospital after losing consciousness and hitting the floor.
While this upsetting incident may lead to Eric's crimes being exposed, Lizzie actress Lily Best has stated that there will be long-term effects on her character.
Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, Best said: "Initially [Lizzie] is defiant and wants to prove this won't stop her living her life, but we do see the long-lasting effects of this trauma.
"She's been violated in such a disgusting way and I think it's good to show it's okay to have a wobble as you try to bounce back from something like this, even for the strongest of people. Twinkles of Lizzie start coming back, which is nice, but there is definite anxiety and PTSD when she goes back to the Love Boat, which she finds quite triggering."
Best also called it a "nice challenge" to play a more vulnerable side to Lizzie, who is usually all smiles.
Hollyoaks streams first on All 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4. Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
