Emmerdale reveals first look at deadly storm destruction in 50th anniversary storyline

 Lots of destruction.

Emmerdale has revealed the first look at a deadly windstorm that causes mass destruction to the village as a part of their 50th anniversary episodes.

This storm will change the face of the village we know so well today, leaving it in carnage and triggering a series of events.

The new picture gives viewers a glimpse of what to expect, as we see a broken pub sign, fallen trees and debris scattered everywhere.

The entrance to the village is blocked by a fallen tree, with branches and rocks scattered all over the floor.

The sign for The Woolpack pub is shown blowing in the strong wind, barely hanging on to its hinges. There is also a dark cloud looming over the area, in what is sure to be an ominous sign.

Earlier this month, Emmerdale bosses announced a huge 50th anniversary slate which would see the storm hit the village as well as some spectacular stunt sequences. They hinted at there being a birth, a wedding and a series of devastating stunts..

Speaking to Digital Spy and other press, Emmerdale producer Kate Brooks said: "As part of our big 50th week, we will focus on a massive storm that's going to rip through the village and leave a massive trail of destruction in its wake.

"Some of our best-loved villagers will be in peril and it's safe to say that the village will never be the same after this. The impact this storm has on people's lives is just massive. That is our big set-piece stunt."

"We are very keen to make sure that we have covered all the different characters, and that all the families that are in the village are affected and impacted in some way by what happens during the month of October," she added.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV, and streams on the ITV Hub.
