Coronation Street's Spider Nugent to have second thoughts in undercover plot
What does the future hold for Spider?
Coronation Street's Spider Nugent will have second thoughts about his undercover plot to watch Griff.
Spider is currently working in Weatherfield as an undercover police officer and has been tasked with keeping a close eye on his protestor 'friend' Griff, as there seems to be something dodgy about Griff that isn't fully clear yet.
In upcoming scenes, Griff runs into Toyah, Spider, and Peter in the café and extends an invitation to a performance for a mystery band whose gigs are announced on social media.
Toyah and Spider plan to miss the gig to spend more time together instead, but when Spider speaks to his boss about it, the latter urges him to attend.
When Spider reveals that he will going to the gig after all, Toyah becomes upset.
Later in the week, a guilt-ridden Spider meets up with his boss and tells them that he wants out, but his boss won't hear of it. What does the future hold for Spider?
Spider has had his fair share of run-ins with the police over the years, so becoming an undercover cop was a surprising plot twist to both viewers and actor Martin Hancock alike.
Previously speaking about whether he knew this career move was always the plan for Spider when he returned to the cobbles, Hancock told : "I didn't know initially when I signed up to return, but it wouldn't have made a difference anyway.
"It's interesting and it's not what you expect from Spider, which is great. It's just a way of progressing the character and a new idea for him. He's still a very committed activist, but he's doing it from inside the system."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
