Emmerdale cancels episode minutes before air on ITV

 The schedule changes continue.

ITV has cancelled an episode of Emmerdale minutes before it was supposed to air.

The channel was supposed to be airing a double bill of Emmerdale from 8pm on Friday night, but just before the first episode started, it was announced the second-half would be postponed.

Viewers who had already tuned in for the first-half will need to have caught a continuity announcement to explain the late change, or they'd likely end up confused over the missing episode.

Instead of this second part of Emmerdale, ITV has scheduled a special edition of ITV News to cover the latest events in the run-up to The Queen's funeral on Monday.

As it stands, ITV has scheduled the second episode from Friday night to now air on Sunday (September 18) at 6.30pm to replace the previously-scheduled Gino's Italy: Like Mamma Used to Make.

Friday's second Emmerdale episode would have dealt with the on-going conflict at Home Farm, as Kim Tate tries to deal with turmoil caused by her son Jamie's attack on his mother-in-law Hazel.

It was already revealed earlier in the day that both ITV and the BBC will be cancelling all soaps programming on Monday to devote more coverage to The Queen's funeral.

As of now, Emmerdale will air at 7pm and Coronation Street will air at 8pm on Tuesday, September 20 as ITV continues to catch up with the shows' original schedule.

Channel 5 has also changed its own schedule for Monday by moving up the day's Home and Away episode, though the evening screening on Monday at 6pm on 5STAR will go on as scheduled.

The BBC has confirmed The One Show will air as planned on Monday, but EastEnders has been dropped for additional news coverage.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
