Emmerdale airs emotional Faith scenes as her health deteriorates

She burns herself with boiling water after getting agitated.

Emmerdale aired some tough scenes tonight (September 11) in Faith's ongoing cancer journey.

Faith's health is rapidly deteriorating following the sad news that her cancer has spread to her brain and she has been advised to start making decisions about her care.

She has recently begun having seizures and has also been getting very confused, which really frightens her.

Tonight's double bill (originally scheduled for Thursday 8 September) started with Faith refusing to be "babysat" by everyone. She managed to shake off Chas by pretending her palliative care nurse was ill and couldn't make their arranged meeting, telling Chas that she would just go for a nap instead.

However, she had lied as she felt none of the decisions being made were actually her choice and she felt out of control. But her nurse explained that as her cancer progresses she might not be able to make decisions herself, so appointing someone she trusts to make them for her was important.

Luckily, Chas walked in during the meeting, followed by Cain, and they had a really heartbreaking discussion about Faith's choices. She decided on a do-not-resuscitate order and chose Cain to have lasting power of attorney.

Later, when Cain was asking her about end of life care, Faith began to get very confused and panicky as Cain was talking to her about a hospice for when things are very advanced.

As she tried to explain that she and Chas had talked about her staying at home, she picked up the kettle and spilled boiling water all over her arm.

When Cain rushed over to help, she picked up a frying pan seemingly to protect herself, believing him to be her abusive ex-husband Shadrach, who died in 2010.

Stunned, Cain stepped back as Faith screamed at him to stay away.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
