Home and Away spoilers: Xander humiliates Rose during an explosive family dinner

 

In the aftermath of Xander (Luke Van Os) losing it at a drunk driver while he was on the job, Cash (Nicholas Cartwright) and Rose (Kirsty Marillier) have decided to keep an eye on him. Xander quickly clocks that Cash is hovering around him constantly and angrily tells him that he doesn’t need babysitting. Cash suggests they get a drink, but Xander is too touchy to take the offer well and says his goodbyes.

Xander goes to find his sister and confronts her – why is she discussing his private life with other people? Rose insists they’re just looking out for him, but Xander feels betrayed and says they both need to back off.

However, their tense exchange has been noticed by Irene (Lynne McGranger), and she decides they need to resolve their differences – otherwise Jasmine could be coming back to her siblings fighting and a bad atmosphere. She invites them over for dinner, hoping everyone will be able to clear the air.

At the dinner, Xander is still clearly feeling turbulent and barely touches his food. Irene decides to check in and makes small talk, asking him how work is going. However, an overly touchy Xander has become paranoid that everyone knows his problems now and asks her why she’s asking such pointed questions about his work. What does she know?

Irene is taken aback, but Xander’s rage has taken on a life of its own and nothing can stop him now. He stands up and accuses Rose of airing out his problems instead of confronting hers. Why doesn’t she share with the family that she’s in love with her sister’s boyfriend? Cash and Irene look on in shock, as Xander storms out of the room and a humiliated Rose runs after him…
