Emmerdale star Louise Jameson discusses possible love interest for Mary Goskirk

 Cupid is readying those arrows.

Emmerdale's Louise Jameson believes there's some romance on the horizon for her character Mary Goskirk.

Earlier this summer, Rhona Goskirk's new-on-the-scene mum opened up about her sexuality in emotional scenes opposite Kim Tate, revealing that she'd kept the truth hidden for decades.

Questioned by Inside Soap on what she can tease about Mary's future, the ex-EastEnders actress had an interesting theory up her sleeve.

Emmerdale star Louise Jameson teases long-term future on the soap as Rhona Goskirk's mum

"I strongly suspect there's going to be a love interest. I wondered if it could be Kim, but that might spoil the friendship, so I reckon they will bring in someone new," she said.

"And Mary is going to be quite anxious around the 50th anniversary, as someone in the family may be in jeopardy."

There's a storm coming, after all.

Further along, Jameson also pondered the greatest thing about playing her Yorkshire Dales character.

"I love that she's complex; one minute you wish she'd shut her mouth as she doesn't censor herself, and the next she'll be adorable and kind. Mary is like an onion, peel off another layer and there's something else to discover."

But back to that upcoming natural disaster – the soap's executive producer Jane Hudson cryptically shared with  "I think it's fair to say that if you're going to do a storm in Emmerdale to celebrate your 50th anniversary, there are going to be huge consequences for some of our villagers..."

Please, no more deaths.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
