Home and Away star Sam Frost announces engagement
"I was trying not to cry and just trying to speak.
Home and Away star Sam Frost has confirmed she is engaged to now-fiancé Jordie Hansen.
The Jasmine Delaney actress and her Australian Survivor: Blood v Water star other half revealed the happy news on their podcast Jordie and Sam's Rural Roadtrip, just five months into dating.
"It's a very important time of our lives. We just recently got engaged, and to celebrate we thought, let's hit the road, let's go on a 14-day road trip," Sam announced.
Jordie then revealed how the proposal played out, recalling: "We were at Uluru and we had just had brekky and were about to head back down south. Sambo had just been delivered her coffee, and so I said, 'Hey, when would you say yes to getting married?'
"I said, 'Pretty much anytime from now'," Sam added, before her fiancé said: "And so I took that as, 'I'm going to do it this afternoon'."
They then rushed to the town of Coober Pedy for the sunset, Jordie explaining: "[We got there and] I set up the camera in what I thought would be the perfect position, and Sambo's come around and said, 'I know exactly what you're going to do here'."
Sam admitted she had "no clue" what was about the happen, adding: "It was beautiful. He was really shaking and couldn't sit down."
"I don't remember a lot of it because I was so nervous," Jordie said. "I was trying not to cry and just trying to speak. I remember saying something along the lines of, 'Baby, we love jokes but this is not one of them. This is very serious'."
Sam recently departed Home and Away as Jasmine after five years, and her exit scenes have already aired for Australian viewers but are yet to be broadcast in the UK.
Home and Away star Lynne McGranger claims Sam Frost could return as Jasmine Delaney
Speaking earlier this year about her reasons for leaving, she explained: "I quit my dream job at Home and Away to look after my mental health. I needed to take a step back, go home and be with my family. And most importantly take good care of my health and well-being.
"I now spend the days with the people I love, doing the things I've always wanted to do but couldn't because I was too busy working. I spent 4.5 years being a distant friend, a distant girlfriend, a sister who couldn't be there for big milestone moments. Now, I'm making up for lost time. I'm prioritising my health and my relationships."
Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.15pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.
In Australia, the show airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 and streams on 7plus.
