Hollyoaks boss Lucy Allan hints when Eric Foster's sinister story will end
"This was a subject matter that was so hard to look at and do."
Hollyoaks boss Lucy Allan has hinted what when we can expect Eric Foster's dark storyline to reach its dramatic conclusion, while teasing where it's going to go along the way.
For those not in the know, Hollyoaks is exploring the topics of radicalised misogyny and incel culture through Eric, as he has shown that he hates women and has been trying to convince people like Charlie Osborne to come around to his way of thinking.
Speaking to and other outlets, the soap showrunner explained that: "Eric's story, exploring the topic of misogyny, will carry on across the show through 2022 as it continues to build and escalate.
Hollyoaks confirms Silas Blissett return
"We will see Mason drawn into the influence and danger of that dark world as well. You can expect to see the big fallout of that story pitching in hard at the start of 2023.
"This was a subject matter that was so hard to look at and do. I don't know how Angus [Castle-Doughty] does it, I sometimes worry about the places he must have to go to in his head. It's an extraordinary piece of work and we are so grateful for Channel 4's support and encouragement of the story as well."
Castle-Doughty himself spoke about the storyline and the research he did into online radicalisation, the bits of Eric's backstory he himself came up with, and whether Verity understands just how far down the rabbit hole he is.
