Margot Robbie sent thoughtful gift to Neighbours team on final day of filming

The actress appeared on the show from 2008 to 2011.

Former Neighbours star Margot Robbie might not have been able to return for the soap's final episodes, but she still managed to be a part of the cast's final day.

The show wrapped on June 10 after 37 years on air, following its cancellation back in March after its UK broadcaster Channel 5 axed the show from its schedule and no new broadcaster was found.

To commemorate the special occasion, Robbie sent the cast and crew bottles of champagne for one last toast on set.

A number of cast members gave Robbie a shout-out on their social media, including Alan Fletcher (who plays Karl Fletcher), April Rose Pengilly (Chloe Brennan) and Emerald Chan (Sadie Rodwell).

The Suicide Squad actress joined the Ramsay Street soap as Donna Freedman in 2008, before leaving in 2011.

In 2020, Robbie revealed that the show's bosses refused to kill her character off as they wanted to leave the door open for a return in case her Hollywood career didn't work out.

"I told them I was going to move to America and then I asked if they would kill me off in like a really big dramatic way," she said at the time. "They said no because, you know, 'If things don't work out in America, we want you to be able to come back and play the role again'. So, my character also moved to America, incidentally."

Stefan Dennis, who plays Paul Robinson, spoke about the final day of filming, calling the experience "incredibly emotional".

"I sort of closed the studio door behind me on my very last scene, my very last dialogue scene and, yeah, I suddenly surprised myself by getting incredibly emotional," he said.

Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 6pm on Channel 5 and streams on My5. In Australia, the show airs Mondays to Thursdays at 6.30pm on 10 Peach and streams on 10 Play.
