Home and Away star Matt Evans shares US ambitions once Theo role is over

 Hollywood, it's Summer Bay calling.

Matt Evans has made quite the impact since arriving in Home and Away last year, but he's already wondering about what his future could look like once he leaves the Channel 5 soap behind him.

While speaking to TV Week, Matt explained that he very much has a move to Hollywood in his sights – but more than likely not for a while at least.

"Obviously, I have plans when it comes to moving to the US and giving the States a go and seeing what I can do over there," Matt said when asked about his future ambitions.

"I have a great agent and everything set up there," he added, "so that was always the plan, otherwise I feel like I would be wondering 'what if?'"

But fans of Theo in Home and Away shouldn't start worrying yet. While Matt is clearly someone who is career-minded, he has no plans to leave the Australian soap for some time yet, as he made it clear that he sees himself in the show for at least a few more years – so we have plenty of Theo to enjoy.

And nobody can blame him for wanting to stay put for a while, as he's up for one of the most coveted Logie Awards – Best Newcomer.

As for what kind of roles Matt would want when he eventually does land in the States, he has his eye on the classic rom-com.

"I'm really into rom-coms and stuff like that," he said. "Some of my favourite people are the leading man who's really charming but still really funny."

But acting isn't the star's only option, as he always has singing to fall back on. Matt recently got to show off his musical skills in the show, and he's admitted he'd be open to pursuing that more in the future.

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.15pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5. In Australia, the show airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 and streams on 7plus.
