Neighbours star Ben Turland addresses Pierce Greyson recast as Tim Robards returns

Neighbours star Ben Turland has spoken to Digital Spy about the upcoming 'reverse recast' for his on-screen father Pierce Greyson.

Next week's UK episodes see Pierce make a return as Ben's character Hendrix Greyson visits his family in Sydney.

Tim Robards has reclaimed the role of Pierce after nearly two years away. The part was recast to Don Hany in 2020 when Tim had to abruptly leave due to COVID-related travel restrictions in Australia.

Speaking exclusively to  about Pierce's latest head swap, Ben commented: "I love both Tim and Don – it's been so fun working with both of them.

"But it was really nice to work with Tim again. When I started in the show, I was with Tim and our characters were very involved with each other.

"Me and Tim are quite good friends and it's always a really nice time working with him.

Pointing out that this was Tim's last chance to return – with Neighbours wrapping production next month – Ben added: "Come June, there may not be another time to revisit the Pierce and Hendrix relationship.

"It was nice that me and Tim got to experience that again."

When Don took over the role of Pierce in 2020, he completed the character's exit storyline as Tim had always planned to leave.

Pierce returned briefly in 2021, with Don playing the part again.

In a recent statement, Tim said: "It was an absolute honour to be asked back to reprise my role as the OG Pierce Greyson! COVID state border restrictions resulted in my sudden departure and replacement back in 2020 for what should have been my last month of filming.

"I'm beyond excited and grateful to get back and see the whole team whom I never got to say goodbye to. Now knowing the show is coming to an end, it's such a privilege to be a part of it one last time."

Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 6pm on Channel 5 and streams on My5. In Australia, the show airs Mondays to Thursdays at 6.30pm on 10 Peach and streams on 10 Play.
