Neighbours' Hendrix Greyson makes an upsetting mistake in transplant plot

 Has he ruined everything?

Neighbours' Hendrix Greyson is left devastated next week as he jeopardises his chances of securing a transplant.

Hendrix is currently facing an uncertain future as he has been diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis and needs a lung transplant to save his life within the next three years.

In upcoming scenes on Channel 5, Hendrix receives a life-changing call amid his engagement celebrations.

Hendrix is told that his transplant could be imminent, as a potential donor has been found.

Unfortunately, things go wrong when Hendrix becomes determined to thank his donor, who is seriously ill in hospital.

Karl Kennedy insists that Hendrix's idea is not possible as it would breach protocol.

Hendrix has other ideas, finding details about the donor himself and heading off to visit him at the hospital.

Mackenzie Hargreaves accompanies her fiancé for moral support. They lurk in the hospital corridor and seize their moment when the donor's hospital room is free of visitors.

Why Neighbours' special Hendrix episode was a triumph for the soap

This plan goes wrong when Hendrix is caught out by one of the donor's family members and is ordered to explain himself.

Before long, Hendrix's transplant is left hanging in the balance due to him breaking the rules.

Hendrix is upset to realise that he may have ruined what could be his only chance to get a transplant.

Mackenzie sees how heartbroken Hendrix is, so she tracks down the donor's father and begs him to reconsider.

Will this be enough?

Ben Turland, who plays Hendrix, recently told: "I was honoured to take [this story] on, and it's been really good to explore it with everybody.

"Hendrix's health issues were triggered by the fire at Erinsborough High, when he saved Mackenzie. This brought on the pulmonary fibrosis.

"It's been a slow approach to the story since then, but now we really get into it. It's been a good challenge."

Neighbours airs these scenes on Monday, May 30 and Tuesday, May 31 at 1.45pm and 6pm on Channel 5 (UK) and Wednesday, June 22 and Thursday, June 23 on 10 Peach (Australia).
