Home and Away star Nicholas Cartwright explains Cash's role in Jasmine plot
Two new characters have arrived this month.
Home and Away spoilers follow for UK viewers.
Home and Away star Nicholas Cartwright has spoken to Digital Spy about his character Cash Newman's attempts to play peacemaker between Jasmine Delaney and her long-lost siblings.
Jasmine had her world turned upside-down on UK screens this month, as Xander and Rose Delaney arrived in Summer Bay and introduced themselves as her family.
Although Jasmine initially wanted nothing to do with the pair, she has agreed to give them a chance. This is partly because her boyfriend Cash has encouraged her not to give up on this opportunity to have a brother and sister in her life.
Upcoming episodes on Channel 5 see the uneasy dynamic continue, as Jasmine struggles with knowing that Xander and Rose had such a positive relationship with their father Alexander.

In comparison, Alexander – who recently passed away – abandoned Jasmine when she was six years old and never saw her again.
Speaking to about the ongoing storyline, Nicholas explained: "Cash feels good about Xander and Rose being in the Bay. He sees the situation for what it is, which is an overwhelmingly positive thing in Jasmine's life.
"I think he knows that even though she's blocking it and doesn't want to talk about it, deep down she really wants to connect to her father in some way and this is her opportunity.
"When she pushes back on the scenario, Cash really wants her to do the opposite and invest in it, carefully talk her into it and convince her to give it a go."

However, asked whether Cash can also understand Jasmine's reluctance, Nicholas replied: "Oh gosh yes! Especially with the way that Jasmine's father left her – he dropped her at school one day and never came back. There's a lot of trauma that's been buried for years.
"In a way, Jasmine and Cash probably would have thought that she's dealt with this and she's okay, but when it's been placed right in front of her, I think anyone could understand why that might be a bit confronting."
Luke Van Os and Kirsty Marillier started filming on Home and Away in the roles of Xander and Rose late last year.

Nicholas added: "It was fantastic to welcome them in. We love nothing more than new cast members at Home and Away. We've all been through it, even me just recently coming from no TV experience to working seven days a week.
"We all understand the stress and pressure and what that feels like to carry the name of a show like Home and Away and to become a member of this ensemble cast with these amazing Australian actors. We want to give anyone new nothing but love when they arrive!
"Kirsty and Luke came in swinging – I've worked with them both heaps and we're all really good friends and couldn't be happier to be working alongside them both."
Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.15pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.
