Former Coronation Street star Kym Marsh reveals whether she'd return to soap

 "I've got a real soft spot for Corrie."

Coronation Street star Kym Marsh has teased that a return to the cobbles could be in the cards in the future.

Her character Michelle Connor left the ITV soap in 2019, but the actress and singer has now addressed a possible return to Corrie in a red carpet interview at the Pride of Manchester Awards, which were held earlier this month.

"Well, who knows? I mean, I'm in Waterloo Road now – I've just started filming for that," Marsh told The Daily Star.

"But you know, I've got a real soft spot for Corrie, and one day I have no doubt I'll set my feet on the cobbles again," she added.

Marsh's character Michelle fled the cobbles when she found out that her fiancé Robert Preston (Tristan Gemmill) had fathered a child with Vicky Jefferies (Kerri Quinn).

A furious Michelle then scammed Robert out of his bistro before selling it and leaving for Ireland.

Last year, the actress explained she felt the door was open to a possible return in the role, saying: "I still keep in touch with everybody [on Corrie] and when I left, I did say it wouldn't be the end of Michelle.

"I would like to think that I would go back at some point. When, who knows? But one day definitely," she added.

While Michelle's return to Corrie is still just a possibility for now, a classic character is set to officially come back in upcoming episodes.

The soap will welcome back Wendy Crozier (Roberta Kerr) after more than a decade. The character was first introduced in 1989, when she became involved with Ken Barlow (William Roache), who was married to Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) at the time.

Wendy was last seen on Corrie in 2012, when she tried to rekindle her romance with Ken following the death of her husband. However, her plan to drive a wedge between Ken and Deirdre  who had reconciled and remarried ultimately didn't work out.
