The character, who was fond of having fun, soon developed a short-lived relationship with Carly, but he was later paired with Emma Jackson, played by Dannii Minogue.

Adam departed Home and Away in 1994, after Mat made the decision to leave, but he reprised the role in 1999 for a shorter stint, before departing the very same year.

Former Home and Away actor Mat Stevenson has adopted his transgender daughter Grace Hyland’s friend Belle Bambi, after her own dad reportedly rejected her when she transitioned from male to female.

Grace took to TikTok on Saturday to share the heartwarming news, posting a video of her handing a bouquet of flowers to Bambi.

‘My BFF’s dad left because she’s trans,’ she said in the video. ‘So we did this!

The clip then sees Mat appear with an adoption certificate in his hand, before kissing Bambi’s cheek.

‘He’s always supported me, and he wants to support Bambi too,’ added Grace.

‘We’re sisters now!’

Bambi shared a similar video on her on TikTok, which she captioned with: ‘Finally a dad who accepts and loves me for who I am.’

The short clip sees Mat sign the adoption papers.

‘He adopted me!’, she exclaimed.

Grace has been documenting her transition on social media since she came out as trans at the age of 12.

Mat, meanwhile, is best known to audiences for playing Adam Cameron on Home and Away, a role he initially held between 1989 and 1994.

Adam first showed up in Summer Bay when he rescued Carly Morris (Sharyn Hodgson), Roo Stewart (Justine Clarke) and Bobby Simpson (Nicolle Dickson) from a harrowing assault.
