Home and Away RECAP: Beef between the youth of Summer Bay

Will the gang get back together?

It’s the question on everyone’s lips. Well ‘everyone’ is a bit ambitious but some fans are talking about it and the characters certainly are. They talk about it so much, my attention span is wearing thin within minutes.

At times Summer Bay has been a hub for teen angst, and while the current residents may have a lot of angst, they’re certainly not teens. Apart from Chloe, Nik, Ryder and Bella who are just hanging onto their youth and their friendship given the apparent beef between them.

Since they’re the only young people in the town, they would have no one else to hang out with and complain to about being broke (although Chloe has conceded she needs a job) over the never ending supply of diner milkshakes, so it’s only a matter of time before they rekindle.

But tonight is not that night so there’s a lot of back and forth, he-said she-said antics topped by Chloe calling Bella an “emotionless psycho”. Not to her face, to my disappointment.

Since the news that Nikau cheated on Bella with his mentor, Chloe has taken Nik’s side since they go way back and Ryder has taken Bella’s side.

Nik punched Ryder in the face at some point too and he’s sporting a very feeble cut on the lip.

“After I heard what he did to you I put him in his place, then he put me on the ground,” Ryder says to Bella.

Chloe appears to have no ailments from the exploding, another miraculous recovery in the Bay, just like this guy.

Emmett has chickened out about telling Bella he’s leaving the idyllic-yet-crime-ravaged shores of Summer Bay for New York because he thinks it will soften the blow telling her after her big city photo exhibition is set up.

“You’ll be great,” Mac says about the new job while biting her tongue as the dating pool becomes increasingly more grim.

Dean has taken it upon himself to get involved, because that’s what he does.

“What’s the story between you and old mate,” Dean says to Mac.

Mac makes up some excuse about not being “ready to date” but is ready to move back into Dean’s house.

Back to Chloe. After slamming the “poxy diner” as it would be below her to work at an establishment that doesn't even have a cocktail bar, she begrudgingly hands in her CV anyway.

Her mum, Mia, is also due for her 12 week ultrasound.

Mia and Ari are very happy which is usually the preamble for grave news like losing the baby.

In other news Alf AND Martha are back in the bay after their Kieran-escaping hiatus.

t’s seems to be a very big deal so for anyone (myself included) that needs a refresher as to why it’s important, Martha’s now recovering alcoholic son apologised to his mum in a letter and due to her recent fragile mental state, needed time away to think about it.

Their returns appears to be a surprise, especially for Roo.

First things first,” Martha says.“Let’s talk about Kieran. We await this update and whatever is going on between Tori and Budget McDreamy.
